SacTown Union Brewery is Opening!

Posted by on Feb 27, 2016 in Chamber of Commerce, East Sac, Events, Restaurant | 0 comments

Today is the soft opening of SacTown Union Brewery in East Sac. I’ve been looking forward to them opening up ever since Quinn and Michael came to an East Sac Chamber of Commerce lunch meeting over a year ago. They seem to be great guys with a focus on community in addition to brewing amazing beers. I look forward to seeing how everything came together for them in the long struggle to get their brewery open. I hope to see a lot of my friends out there tonight welcoming them to the neighborhood. They are tucked away at 1210 66th Street and are open today from noon to midnight. They will be closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and then open Wednesday and Thursday from 4-10:00pm, Friday and Saturday from noon to midnight and next Sunday from 10:00am to 8:00pm....

Sacramento Beer Week

Sacramento Beer Week

Posted by on Feb 16, 2016 in Cal Expo, Events | 0 comments

Something truly delicious is coming…Sacramento Beer Week. Conceived six years ago as a way to celebrate the uniqueness of Sacramento area microbrews, this event has grown to include breweries and beer sellers from all around the world. At 6pm on February 25, festivities begin at the Sacramento Brewers’ Showcase at Cal Expo. Then, over the course of the next few days, special beer-related events will “hop” around to various restaurants and breweries throughout the Sacramento area. Finally, the week wraps up on the afternoon of March 6 with the Capitol Beer Fest downtown. For more information on the specific events going on around town and to buy tickets to either of the aforementioned events, go to sacbeerweek.com. I haven’t looked through all of the events yet but I did see Track 7, Oak Park Brewing, New Helvetia and many other locals already on the schedule. Last year I got in the spirit and hosted an unofficial Beer Week event in my back...

Sutter Memorial Updates

Sutter Memorial Updates

Posted by on Feb 10, 2016 in East Sac, Sutter Park | 0 comments

The slow but exciting project of removing the old Sutter Memorial Hospital and building 125 new homes with some small retail and a park will see some activity in the coming weeks. The environmental testing has started. They are testing the buildings and facilities as well as the soil on the site. Heavy equipment will be there digging sample holes and additional fencing will go around the property next week. Before you get excited to see the site cleared and building of new homes start realize that they aren’t projecting to have the clean up activities completed until spring of 2017. I look forward to seeing this site turn into a vibrant part of East Sac but it looks like I’ll have to wait a while before I can help any of of my clients buy a home...
