Brockbierfest 2016 at the Turn Verien

Those wonderful people over at the Turn Verein are celebrating Bockbier from Germany with their 48th Annual Bockbierfest on Friday & Saturday, April 1 & 2. If you’ve never had Bockbier before, you are in for a treat. It is a traditional darker Bavarian beer with a malty flavor, sweet finish and higher alcohol content than average giving it more of a kick (a kick kind of like the German word “bock” that means “goat”).   Come on out and enjoy German music, food, drink and dancing. General admission is $20 for adults and children up to 12 years is only...

Pops in the Park 2016 Lineup

Pops in the Park 2016 Lineup

Posted by on Mar 10, 2016 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

We are less than 3 months away from the start of the Pops in the Park concert series in East Sac! If you’ve never been to one, you need to fix that this year. If you have been to them before you’ve probably already made it a tradition. My wife and I always make it to the McKinley Pops since we live just a couple blocks away and we usually make it to one or two additional concerts as well. We gather up a bunch of neighbors and stake out a place for a bonus block party gathering. We’ve usually got room for more friends so if you see us there, pull up a blanket and join...

They will be serving from 5:00 to 8:00 rain or shine, will have a beer garden (benefiting Front Street Animal Shelter) and have live music and a bounce house. I hope to see a lot of my neighbors out there again this...

McKinley Village Updates

The Sacramento Bee had a great article on what is currently happening in McKinley Village. Here are what I considered the most interesting details to pass along. The New Home Company will have 336, mostly 2 story house for sale. The houses will range from 1,300 square feet to 3,150 square feet and while the prices haven’t been set yet there are conversation of prices starting at $450,000 and going above $800,000. The model homes will be available to tour in August and they already have 1,200 people signed up to receive updates when the models will be available. The main park will have a community center and pool, the streets will be named for local artists and there will be public art from local artists throughout the development. There will be 8 original art pieces in the neighborhood that the developers are paying over $400,000 for. The first one is titled “La Feuille” by East Sac artist Marc Foster. You can read all the details of the article at the Sacramento...
