Apparently business has been good for me this year because it has kept me distracted from my blog and I’ve missed the first Pops in the Park of 2018! June 2nd was in East Portal Park with IdealTeam. June 9th will be in Bertha Henschel Park with AKA Live. June 16th will be in McKinley Park featuring Jessica Malone June 23rd will finish out the series at Glen Hall Park with The Count. All of the concerts begin at 6:00pm and as usual, there is free bike valet parking if you don’t want to fight for a parking space and don’t live close enough to walk in. I hope to see a lot of my neighbors when I make it out for some Pops in the Park fun this...

It’s that time again! Every Saturday in June, East Sac parks will rock with the 2015 series of Pops in the Park. The first band will be Tom Rigney & Flambeau, who will start performing their energizing blend of Cajun, zydeco, blues and more at 6pm in East Portal Park. The emcees for the evening will be Edie Lambert and Lloyd Levine. Refreshments at this and all other Pops in the Park performances will be available from Burr’s Fountain, Roxie Deli & Barbeque and East Sac-Midtown Kiwanis Club. The beer and wine garden will include offerings from Bogle Vineyards and Hoppy Brewing Co. (Outside alcohol is not allowed.) This popular event fills up quickly, so be sure to grab your lawn chairs and get there early for the best view of the stage. Apart from the cost of refreshments (the proceeds from which go to fund neighborhood improvement projects), admission is free. For more information on Pops in the Park, go to...

June 13th we will get to hear the John Skinner Band playing in Bertha Henschel Park. June 20th will be Mumbo Gumbo in McKinley Park. Since McKinley Park is just two blocks from my home I’ll probably be there with a whole block party contingent enjoying the show. We finish the series on June 27th at Glenn Hall Park with The...

For nearly 20 years, through the efforts of Councilmember Steve Cohn, countless volunteers and many talented artists, Pops in the Park has raised money for East Sac parks while also providing a month’s worth of great live music, food and fun. And this year is no exception.  Starting this Saturday, Pops in the Park kicks off at East Portal Park at 6pm. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and be sure to get there early to get a good spot. The Chris Gardner Band, specializing in their own unique brand of country-rock music, will be performing. The evening’s emcees are B Street Theatre’s Buck Busfield and Bill Blake. You can either bring your own refreshments (they are requesting no outside alcohol) or purchase them from Burr’s Fountain, Clark’s Corner and the East Sac-Midtown Kiwanis Club.  And here’s the schedule for the rest of the Pops in the Park series: June 14- Glenn Hall Park, The Count June 21- Bertha Henschel Park, John Skinner Band June 28- McKinley Park, Garratt Wilken & The Parrotheads: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett Sounds great, doesn’t it?
