Pops in the Park 2020!

Pops in the Park 2020!

Or maybe it should be titled Pops Not in the Park 2020. Normally at this time of the year I would be blogging about Pops in the Park, when they will be playing in McKinley Park, what the bands will be and how much I look forward to hanging out with a 1,000 plus neighbors at these great events. This year they are having to reimagine them due to the COVID-19 Stay at Home orders and the need for social distancing. A huge gathering in our parks would not be a good idea right now. You can still join in some of the fun on June 6th starting at 5:30 for the first ever Virtual Pops in the Park. Jackie Green will be streaming from facebook and they will be taking donations for Women’s Empowerment. Check out more details on the official Pops in the Park page. I look forward to next years Pops even more with having to miss the social gathering of so many great friends and neighbors this...

East Sac Pops In The Park 2019

One of my favorite East Sac Events in coming up quick with Pops in The Park 2019 starting on June 1st! Due to the upcoming water vault  project in McKinley Park we won’t have a concert there this year and instead East Portal Park will get to double up with two concerts this year. As usual, the music will be great, there will be plenty of food and drink vendors and even a free valet bike parking. The proceeds benefit local project and it’s a great way to spend the day lazing around with hundreds of your neighbors.  Concerts start at 6:00 but the socializing and snagging the best seating areas start well before that. Apparently business has been good for me this year because it has kept me distracted from my blog and I’ve missed the first Pops in the Park of 2018! June 2nd was in East Portal Park with IdealTeam. June 9th will be in Bertha Henschel Park with AKA Live. June 16th will be in McKinley Park featuring Jessica Malone June 23rd will finish out the series at Glen Hall Park with The Count. All of the concerts begin at 6:00pm and as usual, there is free bike valet parking if you don’t want to fight for a parking space and don’t live close enough to walk in. I hope to see a lot of my neighbors when I make it out for some Pops in the Park fun this...

This Saturday, June 20, the third concert in this year’s Pops in the Park series will be performed by perennial favorite Mumbo Gumbo. Starting at 6pm, the band will share their danceable, joyful sound with all who come to McKinley Park. Admission is free, with proceeds from food and drink sales (courtesy of Burr’s Fountain, Roxie Deli & Barbeque, East Sac-Midtown Kiwanis Club, Bogle Vineyards and Hoppy Brewing Co.) going to fund East Sac neighborhood improvement projects.
